The Automatic Locking System (ALS®) secures the weapon when holstered while still allowing a smooth straight up draw when deactivated. A Self Locking System (SLS) Rotating Hood provides an extra layer of security, and it is also compatible with the Sentry attachment for Level IV Retention™. The holster rides low on the hip with a 1.5" belt drop, offering a comfortable draw and compatibility with body armor. Safariland's proprietary nylon blend provides top-of-the-line protection from environmental hazards. Inside, strategically raised recesses allow dirt and water to clear away from the weapon, preserving its finish. The holster can withstand extreme temperatures, from -50 to 300 F, and it can be immersed in water indefinitely without any change in shape or reduction in function. My gun comes out nice and smooth and goes in the same. Both the rotating hood and thumb release work as expected. I did remove the protective hood, just seemed to get in my way. I switched to this holster from a Safariland 6360 which was stiff and hard to get my gun in and out even after I loosened the tension screw. This holster is also straight instead of canted like the 6360. My only complaint is belt loop, it digs into my hip when I get in and out of my patrol vehicle. It may just take some getting used to.
