$23.77 Aug 14, 2011 : Rob Pincus QuiqLite was invented after recognizing the need for a hands-free concealed light source that could fit into a uniform shirt pocket for reading and writing in the dark.QuiqLite Hands-Free Uniform Light Review Rob Pincus for SWAT Magazine and CopsPlus, and I'm standing in the dark to talk about the QuiqLite Stealth LED. Now, the QuiqLite attaches to your shirt, whether it be the center of the polo shirt or actually attaching vertically as it's primarily designed to do inside the pocket of an on-duty shirt of a typical dress shirt, and allows you to access the light. As you can see, I can direct light exactly where I want it without it having it come up to the eyes and cause glare. I can also direct it out in front of me and actually shine it directly out at the camera but still have my face be free of light. Let's move out into light and take a closer look.Okay. Now that we're out here in the light and we can see what we're looking at, I've got the QuiqLite Stealth here in my hand, and you can see it's very slim. Now, one of the things I had to admit, when I first opened the package, I did not expect this to be nearly as heavy as it was. It's got an aluminum housing. It's made very sturdily, and it actually says right on the package, it said it's designed for military or tactical applications. Now, while a lot of companies can claim that, can say that, and of course, that's going to sell more devices than something that said it's made to break, this one actually feels to me like it's sturdy enough to survive on-duty use. If I were actually wearing this in a uniform shirt, banging it around everyday, scraping up against things, maybe occasionally having somebody up on top of it or ending up down on my face, being pushed down, fall down, slip, trip, whatever it may be, I can see this thing getting scratched up and dinged up, but I could also see it surviving. When I first took it apart, I realized that I could switch the batteries out very quickly and very easily because it comes with a preloaded two-battery cartridge, which is spare. It comes with one set already installed, so it's ready to go as soon as it get it. It's got two different LEDs, and of course, we know that LEDs are a lot more durable than incandescent bulbs. We hit it once and one LED comes on. We hit it twice and the second LED comes on. There are different versions of it with different color lights as well. I hit it one more time and it turns off. Let's take a look at how we can use this while we're on duty. It be more efficient and maybe even safer. The sturdy metal clip is designed to be worn vertically inside of a uniform shirt pocket. If I put it here on my polo shirt like this, you can see that the light is on but it's pointed down. It's pointed down on the paperwork, down on the ID. Maybe I'm taking a missing person report, and it's pointed down on the child picture. I'm not in any fear here. I'm not in a really heighten state of awareness, but if I was, I can turn this arm up and now have whatever I'm looking at out here in front of me. I can fill out my paperwork here, take a look at the ID or some device here while I'm still keeping awareness on the person in front of me in case they should come at me or turn to run. Ultimately, if I have nothing in my hands, I can point this all the way up and out at the person in front of me, keep my hands a little bit lower than I normally would in an interview stance and cause a little bit of distraction, maybe even a little bit of blindness and gain some advantage from this light worn on my uniform. Take a look at the Stealth from QuiqLite at CopsPlus and see how you might be able to use it to be more efficient and possibly even safer. | |||||||||||
