Hatch D1 Patrol Police Supply Bag Review
Rob Pinkus here for SWAT magazine and Cops Plus. Today I want to talk about the Hatch D1 police patrol supply bag. This kind of bag, if you're in a law enforcement capacity or if you're in a private security capacity and you don't have take home vehicle, maybe you're out on patrol and you use different fleet vehicles all the time, this can be a real life saver. I know for me, when I didn't have a take home car, a bag like this one is exactly the kind of thing that I would want to have to keep all my patrol necessary items, whether it was paperwork, whether it was code book, whether is was my own personal equipment that I wanted to have with me all the time every time. I just wanted to go and keep it in one place so I could pick it up and go. The D1 patrol bag is set up really well to be able to do everything you want it to be able to do.

It's got some loops on the back here, for your lithium ion rechargeable flashlight, maybe you're still carrying a C cell or D cell around, whatever you're got. You can throw that right in there. Maybe you could even throw some kind of a baton in there. These are adjustable so you got hook and loop fasteners so you can go down as small as you want or go up as big as you need to to kind of fit anything that you want to keep right there on the top of the bag. Of course it's got a large main compartment where you can put just about anything you want. Again, whether that's your code books, your policy manuals, things like that, 2011, maybe you're carrying a laptop around, something like that, maybe you're carrying your iPad around. There's a nice divided compartment in the back specifically for that and then you're got another little small flat compartment back here that maybe you keep some personal documents, things like that, maybe business cards.

Up here you've got some pouches for pens. You've got a little bit of an elastic pouch here to keep things in because you know anything you put in here, if it's not attached, if it's not in one of these zippered pockets, the minute you throw this open, that's going to go everywhere, so they thought ahead on that, that's pretty good. There's plenty of room, there's a lot of generous space inside of here for all those manuals, books, whatever it is you need in there. Outside pockets, when this thing is closed up, maybe it's sitting in the front seat of your patrol car with you and I know that's where I used to keep my bag most of the time, we've got some big generous pockets on the front. We can put a lot of different things here on the ends.

I like this little pocket on the end here too. Someplace for me to throw my personal cell phone if I'm not carrying that on my person, maybe I've got a department issued phone, or maybe I just don't want to take my smart phone out there with me on patrol but I've got a little throw away that I keep in my pocket so I do have that cell phone access in case I get out there, separated from my radio, radio gets broken, whatever else. I got another backup means of communication but it's not the $400 phone that I don't want to get beat up out there on patrol.

The other think I keep here on this side, if it were me out on patrol, is a trauma kit. If I know where this is, it's not buried in the middle. It's not somewhere in my car, it's always going to be here with me. If I take this home at night, great. I take this into my house. I put it in my home office. I put it in the foyer, wherever I put my patrol bag, I know that my trauma kit is always going to be in the same place, always going to be readily accessible. Of course it's got some nice straps up here. I can tie these together if I'm doing something where I'm going to be carrying this around for awhile. Maybe I don't want somebody to be able to get into it when I get home or whatever. Unzip that, get them out of the way, no problem and it's got a detachable shoulder strap also. Again, support that weight, I need to throw it over my shoulder, I'm carrying a bunch of stuff out to the car, from the car, whatever it is. Throw that over my shoulder no problem.

Get ready to go on patrol, I can also throw this right over that passenger seat, get it around the head rest and it's going to keep it on the seat. If I have to hit the brakes, the whole bag's not going to go flying all over the place and I'm going to spill all my stuff. They've really thought this one through. You should have a bag like this. If you're doing any kind of work where you get into and out of a vehicle and you want the same things with you all the time, just like you are in a law enforcement patrol capacity, the Hatch D1 police patrol supply bag is going to be a great option for you.
